Join us for an interactive conversation designed to equip you with the tools and insights needed to make the most of your time at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) in Hawai’i. You will have the opportunity to interact with NCORE caucus group leaders and other conference attendees.

  • How to engage with NCORE Hawai’i RESPECTFULLY

Presenters: 

Dear Aunaetitrakul

Dear is the inaugural project director of the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) Program at Oakton College. Before Oakton, Dear spent 10 years in multicultural student affairs supporting Asian American, Pacific Islander, and historically minoritized students. Before Oakton, Dear served as the Assistant Director for the Angelina Pedroso Center at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), overseeing the LGBTQ+ safe zone training and affinity groups. She led Texas A&M University with the reinvigoration of the peer diversity education program Aggies to Aggies (A2A) in 2016. Dear holds a Master of Science in Higher Education from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Media Studies from Queens College, City University of New York. 

Dear is currently the out-going co-chair of the Asian American and Pacific Islander NCORE Caucus. 

Raúl Hinojosa Jr.

Raúl Hinojosa Jr. was appointed the Assistant Vice President (AVP) at The University of Texas at Dallas in the Office of Campus Resources and Support when the office was created in January 2024. Previously, he served in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as Director of Community Engagement (DCE) from 2008 to 2022 and served as AVP from 2022 to 2023. He was the founding director of the DCE created to focus on college access initiatives to increase the number of underrepresented students enrolling in college. In his current role, he provides leadership on the development and implementation of professional development programs, engagement initiatives and institutional climate surveys that support student, faculty and staff success. Hinojosa serves on several national professional organizations including serving on the Board of Trustees for the College Board and as the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity Latinx Caucus Co-Chair. He has a history of being engaged in a variety of community and service organizations including serving as the Former President of the Richardson Adult Literacy Center and is currently the Vice Chair of Leadership for the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is an alumnus of the Leadership Dallas Class of 2015 – the Dallas Regional Chamber’s (DRC) leadership development program. He also served as President of LULAC Council 4871 – the nation’s first LGBT LULAC Council. Hinojosa has taught strategic communications and non-profit management courses as an adjunct professor at University of North Texas and Texas Christian University. During his spare time, he enjoys cooking and eating at new restaurants.

Ysatiz Piñero, M.S. 

Ysatiz Piñero, M.S. (pronouns: she/her/hers/ella), was born in Puerto Rico and hails from Cape Coral, Florida by way of Miami. As a proud first-generation college student, she is cultivating her life’s mantra “aspire to inspire change every day” by earning three degrees and pursuing her fourth. She is a certified Restorative Justice Facilitator, Search Advocate, and Professional Mediator. On a national level, she serves as the co-chair of the Latinx Caucus through NCORE and is the Education Chair for the ACPA Latinx Network. As a champion for change and lifelong advocate for marginalized communities, she embodies the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” 

In her personal life, Ysatiz loves her cat and dog, Bella and Akira, and proudly wears the title of favorite tata/titi (aunt in Spanish). She is an aspiring Costco and Amazon Influencer, an ice cream lover, and a self-proclaimed red velvet connoisseur. When she has free time, she enjoys cooking her favorite Boricua dishes and trying new recipes, binge-watching TV shows like Love is Blind, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order: SVU, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs as well as any Miami sports team, and never traveling to the same place twice. ¡DALÉ!
